Mental Health
One in four adults will experience a mental illness at some point each year in the UK. This ranges from anxiety and depression to alcohol dependence, substance misuse and psychosis. Three in four mental illnesses start in childhood. Six times more children and young people in England have mental health conditions, than a generation ago.
In The Chaos Theory, many of the characters, both male and female, suffer from mild to extreme mental health illnesses, as a result of sexual assault, drug addiction, childhood abuse, gender inequality and poverty. All the characters cope with the challenges with varied levels of success, but our over-all our aim has been to portray mental health as an important factor in any human being’s life.
